to plan or not to plan...
I would always be told when i was younger that i am bad at planning and should practice that with earnest. I have improved over the years but still carry the tendency in a few areas of life. For instance i havent planned what im going to have for dinner tonite. Nor have i planned what shirt ill wear tomorrow. Anyways. It was the 4th of nov at 4 in the evening and i was really bored and I was sitting around doing nothing. . I needed some adventure in my life and needed it now. Next thing i knew that night i was on a slow bus to scotland!! And boy what a trip! i lived three lives that sunday with the small trek i had up in the scottish mountains.
Im not sure if this is a naive thought but for those of you who have made such unplanned decisions on the eleventh hour you must agree with me it is quite the more fun than a nicely planned trip. The moment you start planning everything goes wrong. how? Ill tell you. There are 3 types of people in this world when it comes to planning a trip, i have seen. Even a petty one. Tom ,Dick and Harry.
Tom starts planning his one week trip like a year in advance. He will try and get information on the weather, the season and property prices for date a year ahead. He will see all the places, their photographs and take thier printouts. He might even try and predict the oil prices to plan his trip if by car. Now i know bosses around the world are the most hated after mother in laws and George Bush. They will definitely not give holidays at a moments notice. But i mean a year in advance!! They must make great managers but fun is not exactly how they will describe their trip. He has planned so much and studied everything in so much detail that nothing is actually fun in the trip. Anything out of the planned time table will boil his blood. Nothing is new. Hes seen all of this on the internet. In the end he wonders why it wasnt so much fun.
Anyway then comes Harry. He is confused about everything and hence starts planning a week in advance. He is a wannabe. Everyone plans so i should too. But planning a trip is exactly so much fun he hears. So he just plans a week in advance. Since hes not planned enough his trip is hardly the way it was supposed to go. And of course the very time you dont want any problem cropping up our Murphy uncle comes in. To top it he doesnt see the deviation as an adventure but as a he starts blaming himself and decides to plan better from next time round. his trip is not too much fun either.
Then comes Dick. His ways and behaviour is an enhancement to his name. He acts like one too. He doesnt plan, believes in instinctiveness and decides one fine day he is going to timbuktoo. Keep in mind, he wont do this on a thursday afternoon but a friday evening. He goes out and because he know he hasnt planned anything everything that he comes across is new. Is beautiful. Life is an adventure and so is this trip. He will make the most of everything and of course there will not be any problem as he didnt know what was supposed to happen in the first place.
So there. You feel differently you can always comment. I gotto go now. HAve to really plan for my trip to India next year. ..WHAT?

Hey Puneeth-
I see you are a new blogger like me and felt that I would post you a comment, knowing as I do the pain and insecurity of no bastards reading your blog.
Of course it depends why you blog - but deep down the drive is the same for all.
Re planning trips - I am "Dick" and Madam Tao is "Tom". It is through these extremes that we acheive Te in our relationship if not in our personal lives !!!
Keep Bloggin, dude.
Buddy....U taught me to be Dick...n I loved every minute of it. Life's no good now... coz i'm back to being Harry! :) Ciao!
